World Marine Care (WMC) provides engineering, integration and operational support for electric and hybrid marine energy systems.

WMC works with vessel owners, shipyards, designers and research partners from early concept and surveys through system design, commissioning and real-world operation.

This approach combines hands-on marine experience with a strong focus on reliability, safety and energy autonomy at sea.

Wybo Overmeer is a marine engineer with an academic background in Offshore Engineering from Delft University of Technology (NL) and professional maritime training as an Engineer Officer of the Watch from Warsash Maritime Academy (Southampton, UK). He has spent extensive periods at sea, including long voyages such as a cruise ship passage from the Mediterranean to Cape Town via the Indian Ocean and a Melbourne - Vancouver tour, via a dry dock in Singapore, tour around Japan and cruising Alaska. He is currently training and practicing toward the RYA Yachtmaster certification.

Wybo’s hands-on experience spans shipyards and projects worldwide, including four years working in a shipyard in Santos, Brazil, performing as a Commissioning Engineer and conducting Harbour Acceptance Tests and testing the Sea Worthiness.

He has been involved in the commissioning of 60-foot solar-powered catamarans in Rayong (Thailand) and Fano (Italy), as well as an 80-foot catamaran in Tuzla, Turkey, ensuring a complex delivery process runs as smooth as possible and with techincal improvements on all boats.

In addition to new builds and commissioning, Wybo has worked on historical vessels at the MShed in Bristol (UK) and on refit and operational support projects for Sea Shepherd vessels in Lisbon (Portugal) and Gran Canaria (Spain).

Now focussing on WMC’s Lisbon Service hub and workshop, Wybo is steering World Marine Care towards a solid Marine Engineering company operating in the Algarve, Aveiro and Lisbon in Portugal and having projects running in Mexico, Ecuador, Spain, the Açores and The Netherlands.

This combination of engineering education, sea time and international project experience forms the foundation of World Marine Care’s practical and reliable approach to vessels.
